When we got off the phone everything was fine and the status was "Open". But this morning it changed to "Protest". I haven't touched anything since the phone call. Does this mean my employer is protesting that fast, or do you think something got messed up somewhere? Because I can't think of any reason why they would protest, so I am confused.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated! Last edited by Ariadne22; at PM. What happened was I filed on Oct. So it filed at an EUC. He said I would have only gotten one week of my EUC anyway because of the year ending, so I told him to just get rid of it, I did not need to claim that week, I would just rather file my new benefit year.
So he waived my one week of EUC, and started my new benefit year on the 6th of Oct, one day after last years ended.
Michigan unemployment questions answered: When to expect it, if it’s taxable and more
I got my amount and how many weeks I can claim. Everything was all set, I didn't have to deal with the EUC that I didn't want, and he set me up with my new claim. He completely removed my previous claim, the only things I see when I log in are things dealing with this new claim. And it seemed ok until this morning and now it says Protest, which I never did. So, the reality is you have, in fact, reached your benefit year end and were about to begin EUC.
Do you know what kind if benefit your new claim will be paying? The only time it might be in your best interests to waive EUC on a current claim is if you know your new benefit will be better than the earlier benefit, and you don't want the risk of reverting to EUC from an earlier lower-paying claim when you exhaust state benefits on the higher-paying claim.
Further, he did you a disservice by not explaining clearly WHY you should not be so cavalierly waiving that benefit. That said, MI is not helpful to its claimants from reports we've had here.Let friends in your social network know what you are reading about. A link has been sent to your friend's email address. The extra federal benefit was allotted "for weeks of unemployment ending on or before July 31," meaning the last full week of July, unless Congress extends it. The number of new unemployment claims in Michigan had been declining consistently since hitting a peak in early April. That changed late last month when jobless claims nearly doubled from a week prior.
Some of that increase can be attributed to a seasonal spike in claims that usually happens around the July 4 holiday when manufacturing plants shut down, but this year's increase outpaced prior years. States around the country are seeing a spike in coronavirus cases, including Michigan. Some have moved to close businesses that were allowed to reopen. Gretchen Whitmer thus far has paused Michigan's economic reopening, although she did order the halting of indoor service for nightclubs and other bars that mainly serve only alcohol.
If businesses have to keep their doors closed, furloughs could turn into layoffs. For businesses that reopened and have to shut down again, those employees may have to go back on unemployment benefits. That's unless Congress approves new legislation extending the extra benefit.
That extra benefit kept the state's economy afloat, economists say, and workers who have no job to go back to could face severe hardship without the benefit.Korg m1 sysex patches

An unemployed individual applies with the state for weekly unemployment insurance. The last employer can question the claim and based on this, the claim may be denied.
The claimant may appeal a denied claim. The adjudication hearing or fact finding interview gives the applicant an opportunity to present his case for a contested claim or denied claim. Once a valid claim has been established, it is then reviewed to determine if you, or a former employer, have provided any information that could come in way of unemployment payments. If an issue is raised, an adjudicator will review any information that you have already provided, and if additional information is needed, you will be contacted.
An adjudicator may contact you by telephone, e-mail or mail. If contacted, you must be prompt and sincere in providing a response at the earliest so that the adjudicator has all information in hand to help him decide. An issue is a condition or circumstance that could result in the denial of benefits as required by the eligibility and disqualification provisions in law of a particular state. An array of issues as provided below can potentially result in delay or denial of claims filed by the applicant.
The reason for separation from your last employer usually determines whether you are eligible to receive unemployment benefits. If you have not earned the minimum amount as prescribed by the state, then there can be a roadblock that will stop you from qualifying.
The adjudicator is required to investigate your separation s by finding out why you left the job s in case the claim is contested by either of the parties involved. The adjudicator must determine if you were separated from the employer s under conditions that might disqualify you from receiving unemployment compensation. Upon completion of investigation, the adjudicator will issue a written determination s which is mailed to you and the employer s.
If there are multiple determinations, all must be favorable in order to receive benefits. For example, if you worked with three different employers and two determinations are favorable and one determination is not, the entire claim is denied and payments cannot be made until that disqualification has been satisfied.
Note: You will be contacted only if information is needed in addition to the information you provided when you filed your claim. Please note the adjudication process can take two to six weeks from the time an issue is raised until a determination is made. You may request an appeal whenever a determination is not favorable to you. Instructions and procedure for filing an appeal are provided on the website of the state. You must complete the form and submit the appeal using the Internet or you may request an appeal in writing posted to the relevant office in your state.
